On the morning of October 1st 2013 Hatfield firemen organised an event at Friendship house, Hatfield  as part of Older People’s Day.

Older People’s Day is a national celebration to mark the achievements and contributions older people make to our Society and economy.

The  Welwyn Hatfield District Fire Service was there to give advice about keeping safe in the home,

Other agencies such as, Age Concern UK, Hertfordshire Action for Disability, Lifeline Community Alarm Service, Home Instead Senior Care, were invited to have  displays of their work and to talk to the older people who had gathered at the centre.

Hatfield Local History Society brought along photographs and books of Hatfield which jogged a lot of memories of past days.

The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly with tea and cakes being served by the firemen and helpers.
