Girl Guiding
Centenary 2010
By Jean Cross
The year October 2009 – 2010 was a celebration of 100 years of guiding. To illustrate this former Guides and Guiders (and current Guiders) were asked to contribute to Guiding Memories, some of these memories also came from members of the Local History Society.
An exhibition of guiding memorabilia was held for five days in the Guide Hut in Ground Lane, staffed by current Guiders and Friends of Guiding (FOGS) who provided teas, coffee and lunches and the odd explanation of exhibits. Part of the exhibition was then transferred to Mill Green Museum for a week, where it also attracted favourable attention.
