Local Guides celebrate the Olympics
On Your Marks!
The Olympics badge “On Your Marks” was intended to stimulate the girls’ interest and broaden their perception of the Olympic ideals. It was divided into 3 sections – Sport, Culture and Values and had a “warm up” and a “cool down”. The final day had an Opening Ceremony with flags of nations made from newspaper and one of the activities was to devise a picture illustrating some part of the games. There was also a section marked “Passing the Baton” which was intended to stimulate a future interest.
