My brother John Tether organised a day survey of all trains passing by Brookmans Park station in 1961. This was for all 24 hours and he did most of the work and I helped when he took a break. Overall there were 350 trains. We recorded the direction, type of locomotive, freight, passenger or light engine together with diesel railcar. If anyone wants to see the record, please contact me.

Is that Alan & Christine who used to live in Greenlanes.
If so I was in same class as Alan who used to date my sister Christine for a while.
I used to stand on the bridge and write down the train numbers as they passed by underneath. A fond memory.
I too spent many happy days on that foot bridge next to the station waiting to see my father wave from the window of the guards van on his way to Scotland. I wonder if the Christine Newman [nee Skinner] is the same as the Christine that went to the Breaks youth club? grahamwheeler48@gmail.com
Snap I used to lie down with my younger brother on the wooden footbridge at Hatfield railway station in the mid 50’s and wait for the steam train to go under the bridge our faces would be black from the soot, loved the sound of that train still doo. Yes happy times I also got the little Birch Country bus outside the station which was I think cream and brown or green and it took me all the way to Codicote to see family,
My brother, Alan and I used to stand on the footbridge by the station and get covered in smoke from the trains in the 1950’s. Happy days
I was train-spotting at marshmoor at this time, really good memories.
