'Topsies' sweet shop, a regular stop when on my way to school via 'Jacobs Ladder' anyone remember Buster the dog who would only retrieve a chocolate button from his nose when Hatfield was mentioned.

I lived at 18 Glebeland and remember well Topsy Wiggle? Shop passed it every day going to school up Jacobs ladder to St Etheldreda’s school from 1940-1946 I married Jeff Prettyman 1955 and still with him 2023 now in Stokesley North Yorkshire Great memories of Hatfield and lived there until 1960 Going to St Audrey’s then to the North western Poly then working as a secretary at De Havilland’s
Just found this page, after finding my GGGrandfatehr on the new 1921 census, alas him, his wife and 6 of his 7 children were in Hatfield Poor Law Institution, which I’m now searching for. Never been to this area but my father family were resident in this and surrounding villages for at least 200 years!

Hi John,Vera & Jack were also my neighbours in Batterdale at No 24 for some time.
